The Love Letter by Rachel Hauck

Image
Wow! This book had so much. It was one of those stories that makes you think, makes you reflect, and makes me rejoice in the amazing Author who is our creator. This is a great time split novel, it didn't work out like I thought it was going to, but where that usually makes me frustrated, this twist made me reflect on how God is in control and even though things don't always go the way we want them to, He is in control and He has a plan that is beautiful. Each of the characters felt so real, it didn't matter if the were in 1780 or present day. I cheered for then, felt for them, and that is what pulled me in. Though fictional, these characters reminded me that no matter what our future looks like, we can trust our Shepherd, we can follow Him.

Still the One by Rachel D Russell

Yes! Back to Deep Haven! I was very intrigued when Susan may Warren announced that she was going to have new authors join her in writing Deep Haven stories.  What would they be like? I was completely pulled into this story! It had the drama,  romance and formula that I love in Susan's books, and so many characters from Deep Haven that I loved. I really enjoyed this author's voice and the way she told this story.  I am a huge sucker for veteran stories! What really touched me was the heroines struggle with her own feelings of being unworthy,  man that hit home for me. A struggle I'm sure many have and told in a way that gives such hope. I read this while on vacation,  tucked into a cabin,  it was perfect! This story is a type of second chance romance that pulled at my emotions and I really enjoyed it!

Haunting at bonaventure circus by Jaime jo Wright

Image
Jaime jo Wright does it again! She crafts tales that make you want to cozy up and devour, and she weaves in the spooky feels, with great characters and depth.  She has truly made me enjoy timesplit novels! She develops both timeliness so well and then tries them together in the end with I twist that I never see coming! This book took be a little longer to get into, but once I was able to sit down and seriously read it I was whisked away by the story.  And the ending had me flipping pages as fast as I could. I was a little confused aboout how the author left some points hanging on what was supernatural or not. The faith message is a bit on the lighter side in this book, but there are great nuggets of truth in this story.

Set the Stars Alight by Amanda Dykes

Image
Amanda dyke's stories beckon not to just simply be read then shelved. They draw you into the magic of the printed word. They beg to be experienced and meditated upon. Her gifting of words insights wonder and hope. Her books are completely different than anything else that I read and so memorable! This book is so well layered, so deeply rich. This book doesn't give you that instant gratification, it encourages you to lean closer and discover the wonder of everyday things and the beauty of discovery. While a tear may have escaped my eye early on this is not the same level of tears that her previous book (Who's waves these are). There is the tiniest connection to that book in this story for those looking and it was pure poetry. I think that is what I love about her style of writing. It is practically poetry. It is a story wrapped within a story, with a message intertwined within.  Its simply stunning. And it calls you to "just imagine "

the Soul Chronicles by Morgan Busse

Image
Okay, wow. I tell myself that I don't really love fantasy, and once again that changes when I pick up a Morgan Busse book! I absolutely loved her Ravenwood saga and I might have been sucked into this steampunk fantasy even faster! I loved how she creates her characters, how she builds her worlds, how she challenges her readers and her characters. For me it's all about great characters, I find that when I'm drawn to and root for these fictional people, it almost doesn't matter what world they live in. Kat and Steven are imperfect, flawed wounded people that are caught in a epic fight that has you asking "is there a cure for a wounded soul?" I especially love how Busse intricately weaves a deep and powerful message into her story. She uses fantasy to explore the profound questions of our life. She reveals darkness that hides in our reality. This story is fast paced and complex,  I loved it! Picking up right were Tainted left off, Awakened takes you on the final ...

Carolina breeeze by Denise hunter

Absolutely delightful! I must say that out of these siblings,  was looking forward to Levi's story the most, and I think it will be my favorite! I really identified with the oldest of the siblings. That feeling of responsibility, that desire to protect and shelter they younger siblings is strong. Levi has all those qualities that drive his little sisters crazy! But I get it. I really adored the relationship between him and Mia. Sometimes fictional romances get hung up over silly misunderstandings that should be simply talked out. I didn't get that from Levi and Mia's relationship at all. I liked how steadily the relationship between them progressed. It was filled with so many cute, sweet, and swoon worthy moments! There was conflict to overcome and growth that needed to happen for both of them, and I really enjoyed seeing their journey. This book is the perfect summer escape read! If you are chilling by the pool, lake, beach or wherever you are, take a trip to the BlueRidge...

Kings Falling by Ronie Kendig

Image
Intense  Thrilling Action packed Complex Twists and turns Hold your breath  These are what comes to mind as I write this review of the highly anticipated second book of the Book of Wars series. You simply have to read Storm Rising first, for there you are introduced to all the players and a very vital backstory. It's hard to write a review on this book because there are quite a few twists that I don't want to give away.  So I am just going to say if you are looking for a intense, action packed, paramilitary suspense .......I recommend no other than Ronie Kendig. I really enjoyed how she has taken the characters introduced to us in Storm and really fleshed them out on a deeper level. Not only are they racing against the clock and around the world, but they are facing their own personal struggles and hidden obstacles that could be their undoing. Bravo Ronie Kendig! You once again have crafted a story that has kept me reading until the late hours of the night and I am anxiou...

the Socialite

Image
This book was so good! I loved how well paced it was and I loved the development between the two main characters. The banter and verbal sparring was so entertaining. Kat and Barrett couldn't be more different from each other, but they made such a great team. And I really liked how the author wove the danger of being in Nazi occupied France into the story. The whole situation with the sister was disturbing but very authentic in what happened during that time. And this author can write some tension!! I love the tension. LOVED the kisses too ;) I am definitely coming back to this author for more! I felt like the immersion into the resistance was a bit quicker than what would have actually happened, and sometimes the transitions between scenes happened abruptly, but I got used to this style as I kept reading. Great romance! Just an all around entertaining, great read! I recieved a complementary copy of this book from the publisher. I genuinely loved this book and all my opinions are my...

Mark of the raven by Morgan Busse

If you know me at all, you know that I am not a huge fantasy fan. It is few and far between that I am even tempted to try it. However. When I come across a good one, I am captivated. Consider me captivated. The first few chapters were a bit tough for me to wrap my mind around, and I did have concerns of where the whole "dark Lady" thing was going. Buuuut It was really good. I am thankful for my brother who is into lucid dreaming. After hearing him talk about it for so long I think I was prepared for the Dreamwalking element of the story. And I really liked Damien! I am so glad I did wait until now to read it because all of the books are out and I can just read one after another. I really appreciate the allegory quality of this series. One thing that usually keeps me from getting into fantasy is a heavy magic element, or one that feels to close to sorcery. It goes against my convictions to get into that kind of stuff. I did not get that feeling from this book. It's more li...

Excuse me while I rant, fangirl and wallow in a book hangover. If you haven't guessed, I loved it! Seriously.  I loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved loved it! Ugh, but now the series is over(sniff), but it was soooooooo good! For those of you who have been reading her books since the Out frome Egypt series, we get a super special tie in to that series that took me completely by suprise! I actually gasped out loud when I saw it! I can't give away much more without moving into spoiler territory. I loved how the action and drama never lagged in this book, I think this was definitely one of her most action packed book to date! It is a new favorite! Connilynn Cossette is one of the authors that I  automatically buy her new books, I always know that I am going to get a wonderful story with a deeply woven message in it!

Save the Date review

Image
I picked this book up because I was waiting for another book and I decided to read something light and easy before it came. I completely taken by surprise by how much I enjoyed it! This book is a "fake relationship"/"hate-love", a recipe for a great time in my opinion! I loved the snappy comebacks, the sarcastic banter between the two characters that just made the book. We see the characters grow in their faith and with their others around them. Typically, we don't see much "fake relationship" in the CF world, I think that is because in a fake relationship, you are portraying something that you are not. I really liked how the author had the characters struggle with the dishonest part of it and still attempted to keep up the charade for their own reasons. This book was just such a fun treat! I have never read a Jenny b Jones book before, but you can bet on me reading more! #bookcommunity

Runaway Bride by Jody Hedlund

Image
As soon as I was introduced to Arabella in the first book I was eagerly anticipating her story.  But you guys....... nothing prepared me for how wonderful this story is! Jody Hedlund has outdone herself! This second installment of the Bride ship series is even better than the first! Arabella is a character that you can't help but root for. She is wounded by her past, but watching her grow and become strong is just an amazing story. Pete is a fantastic hero! He is confident, funny and the absolute perfect character to help Arabella. Normally the flirty, outgoing type of heroes are not my favorite, but Pete has this magnetic optimistic outlook that is practically contagious! I loved how the author wove these two opposite personality types together and had them grow in their individual struggles and their faith. This positively swoon worthy romance is blended with historical detail and a inspirational message. This is everything I look for in a historical romance. I could ...

the Curse of Misty Wayfair

Image
Jamie Jo sure knows how to weave a story! I still enjoyed Foster Hill the most but this story has that trademark mystery with a good dose of creepy, that is unique to this author. I really enjoyed the time split aspect of the story and the author built up the story very well in both time periods. I haven't always loved split time books, but I think that they are growing on me. I kept on getting interrupted and sidetracked while reading this story, and that annoyed me, because I lost my reading momentum a few times. That last 100 pages really took off! I really appreciate the compassion and honesty that the author took in the topic of mental illness.  I absolutely loved the twists in the end!!! Very well done. I would have liked a touch more romance in the story, but it didn't detract from the story. All, in all a great book.

An Uncommon woman by Laura Frantz

Image
Laura Frantz has swept me away again in this beautifully written tale of frontier life in 1770! Her writing makes you feel as if you are there in person, seeing the sights, smelling the scents. This book took me along for a journey into the wilderness that I won't soon forget. Clay is a man who has come through life battered, and closed himself off. Tessa is a strong woman, who is dedicated to her family, yet she longs for life outside of the valley she has grown up in. This is a tale filled with peril, but one filled with hope as well. A reminder that no matter our circumstances, our Lord is with us. I received this book from the publisher through Netgally. My opinion is completely my own.

House on Foster Hill

Image
I loved the twists, I loved the turns, I loved how the how the past and the present were interwoven in a truly unforgettable story! This book delt with hard topics and definitely had a spooky edge to it. I really enjoyed that about this book! I find it so rare to find a mystery that keeps me guessing like this one did. I can't write much more, or I might accidentally give away spoilers! Get. This. Book! Bravo Jaime Jo! I am definitely going to be reading more of her books in the future!

End of the Magi by Patrick w. Carr

Image
This book was filled with historical detail, and the plot was ever moving and evenly paced. But for me personally I like more character development. I felt like Myrad never grew, and he never seemed to really change spiritually. Not my cup of tea. This was the first time I have ever read this author, so maybe it is just the style of the writing that I was not used to. To me this book was more about the life of caravan merchants in the first century, than it was about the actual magi. While there was a bunch of interesting information, I felt like it was a missed opportunity to really get to the heart of the message.

my review of Brand of Light

Image
I feel so much right now. Just stay in that corner Brand, stay there and think about what you put me through. I am trying to write a understandable review. Let me start at the beginning. I never in a million years thought that I would ever pick up a sci- fi/ fantasy like this. But since it was written by Ronie Kendig, I decided to go for it. Her writing style did not disappoint. She can spin a story like crazy. She sucked me into this other universe and I was unable to put this story down. One thing that I love is how she writes characters that feel so real, even when completely fictional and in a fictional world. It doesn't matter. I care about these characters. I especially love her work because she writes warriors, and survivors that feel like you can hear them breathe. You can feel them run, feel them hurt, all the feels. Sometimes fury. And this story is just beginning. Don't expect to have everything tied up in a nice predicable bow.  This book has twists and turn that ha...

My review of Wyatt by Susan May Warren

Image
Wow, what a ride! Bravo SMW for writing another addition to this fantastic family series! Each one of these stories are as unique as the siblings that it features. I LOVED Ford, I mean he was pretty perfect. Wyatt's story is very different, because Wyatt is a totally different brother. He is someone who acts on more emotion. He has a history with Coco that was illuded to in the previous book. And now we finally find out why things happened the way they did. This is another fast paced story and I finished it in a ,day. Very hard to put down. I loved the humorous parts of the book! Wyatt's mind was often jumping to conclusions and then running away with imagination, and I cracked up with his and York's interactions. Seriously, I love York so much! There are several twists in the story that I can't reveal without giving too much away. Some I guessed ahead of time, others caught me off guard. There are some adult themes mentioned, but not too detailed. I loved the ...

Synapse by Steven James

Wow! Though not my average type of read, this book sucked me in for a wild ride that was filled with deep thought provoking points. The Sy-Fi angle was different, but I rolled with it and Jordan became my favorite character! What I liked about this story the most was the way we got to explore what it means to be a human. We explore topics of pain, eternity, free will and many more. The one negative thing I will say is how the main character is a female head pastor. The Bible says women are not supposed to be Elders and Pastors, yet this character is "called" to be a pastor? Sorry, I had to take off a star for that. Maybe it was a type of reflection of the society of this futuristic world, I don't know. Other than that I found myself fully engaged in this futuristic/dystopian world! I was left with much to ponder and thank God that even though we experience pain and heartache, we have a Savior and a privilege to be able to spend eternity with Him. I received a comp...
