Taken with Trouble

Absolutely blast to read!
I loved Date with Danger, but when I heard that this author was pairing up Cruze with Liam...mind blown, I knew we were in for a fantastic ride.
I was definitely not disappointed.
The fast paced banter and hijinks were superb.
This is enemies to lovers with a heist element done right.
There are a few twists that I absolutely DID NOT SEE COMING.
And I feel like I can usually predict things like that. And it added a whole new element that made the story even better.
This story is fun, fast, flirty and at the same time gradually lets you into the characters to show that they are more then they appear.
The perfect balance of romance and action.
One of my favorite reads this year.
I may have read this as an advance copy but I am buying a paperback for my shelf because I will absolutely be reading this again.
This is book 2 in the series and it has overlapping characters from the first book.
Highly recommend to lovers of Leverage, White Collar, and Knight and Day.

Undercurrent of Secrets

Okay this is officially my favorite Rachel Scott McDaniel book yet! This book is a split time that is so well balanced between the past and the present. I loved the light thread of mystery and the contemporary just was so good. I loved the romance in both time periods. There were some absolutely adorable and swoony scenes in both that just was my favorite parts of this book. I loved the setting of the riverboat! So interesting how the author used an actual boat for the setting and so you get that peek into the lives of people who lived the riverboat life. If you want to feel transported grab this one, it's a gem. Thanks to Netgally I received a complementary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are honest and my own.

I had seen this author's books floating around on Instagram and jumped at the chance to grab one on Netgally. Yes, I started with the last book in the series. It in no way lessened my enjoyment of this beautiful story. I love stories of people who get second chances. I love the opposites attract trope. And I love a strong redemption arc. This book had all of that. The author crafters characters that have their own flaws and struggles. I loved the hero. Though wounded and scarred from his past mistakes, he was lovable and I couldn't help but root for him. I loved his protective nature as well. Always here for the protective hero. The heroine is the opposite of him in many ways, and yet she was so relatable to a fellow rule abider like myself. I loved the way each character had to work through their struggles.
