My review of veiled in smoke

Image
Veiled in smoke is a novel deeply rich in history! I was truly transported to the windy city to the time of the great fire. I don't know about you, but I tend to compartmentalize history. I never really thought about how men who survived the civil war were present in the Chicago Fire. I really appreciate the intricate research that went into this story! I had never before known about some of these things! This is a story that captures the family drama after tramatic event as well. This is a perfect read for those who want a historical novel without it being mostly about the romance. A well written, well developed historical novel! I received a complementary copy of this book from the author, all opinions are completely my own.

Daughter of Rome review

Image
I LOVED it!!!!!!!! Tessa Afshar has done it again with a tale that transports you to antiquity and leaves you marveling at how God can use the struggles in our life to bring about something beautiful! This books now ranks up with Pearl in the Sand and In The Fields of Grace, as one of my favorite Tessa Afshar books! Priscilla and Aquila were names that I was familiar with as the couple who worked alongside Paul. But everyone has a backstory, and this author did a fantastic job of weaving a fictional (what if), alongside what we know about them from the Bible! A truly captivating, truly beautiful tale! Soooo good! If you want to purchase this book for yourself head over to https://www.tyndale.com/p/daughter-of-rome/9781496428714

my review of Love you Truly

Image
Okay, I don't know how this author does it! This is the second time she has taken a trope that I don't normally like and knocks it out of the park in a fantastic way! I'll watch a dating show every once in a while, but I don't gravitate towards books with that theme. But Susan Tuttle has taken everything I don't like about it and turned it into a truly unforgettable story! I loved the banter, I loved the heart, I loved how well developed the characters were. Just all the heart eyes! This is definitely a contemporary author to watch!

Author Interview with Jessica Kate!

Image
Jessica Kate has a new Rom-com set in Australia that will release in just a few short days. It is an absolute blast, in my opinion! Jessica was kind enough to answer some questions about the book. . . . Question#1 I really enjoyed seeing a modern, rural dairy operation. That is something I have not seen in fiction before, how did you come up with that idea? I grew up there! The farm described in A Girl's Guide is based on one of the ones I lived on as a kid, though the anecdotes come from the experiences of myself and a lot of people I know. Even a key twist in the story came from something that really happened to my mate. That flying fox (zip line) was real, and lots of fun! :D   Question#2 It was really fun to visit the outback in your book! What is your favorite place in your country? The MovieWorld theme park. LOL, not very outback of me, I know. If we're talking rural areas, I'd say wherever my family is. :) I grew up in the country with a lot of aunts, uncles and cous

the romance of reconciliation

Image
Let's talk about the romance of reconciliation! . I adore both of these books because they have the unique story line of couples that are estranged or growing apart, and how they find their way back! . I love the depth of these kind of stories and how it's not about finding the new, but about fighting for something worth fighting for!

An Uncommon woman by Laura Frantz

Image
Laura Frantz has swept me away again in this beautifully written tale of frontier life in 1770! Her writing makes you feel as if you are there in person, seeing the sights, smelling the scents. This book took me along for a journey into the wilderness that I won't soon forget. Clay is a man who has come through life battered, and closed himself off. Tessa is a strong woman, who is dedicated to her family, yet she longs for life outside of the valley she has grown up in. This is a tale filled with peril, but one filled with hope as well. A reminder that no matter our circumstances, our Lord is with us. I received this book from the publisher through Netgally. My opinion is completely my own.
