Wow!
Though not my average type of read, this book sucked me in for a wild ride that was filled with deep thought provoking points.
The Sy-Fi angle was different, but I rolled with it and Jordan became my favorite character!
What I liked about this story the most was the way we got to explore what it means to be a human.
We explore topics of pain, eternity, free will and many more.
The one negative thing I will say is how the main character is a female head pastor. The Bible says women are not supposed to be Elders and Pastors, yet this character is "called" to be a pastor? Sorry, I had to take off a star for that. Maybe it was a type of reflection of the society of this futuristic world, I don't know.
Other than that I found myself fully engaged in this futuristic/dystopian world!
I was left with much to ponder and thank God that even though we experience pain and heartache, we have a Savior and a privilege to be able to spend eternity with Him.

Undercurrent of Secrets

Okay this is officially my favorite Rachel Scott McDaniel book yet! This book is a split time that is so well balanced between the past and the present. I loved the light thread of mystery and the contemporary just was so good. I loved the romance in both time periods. There were some absolutely adorable and swoony scenes in both that just was my favorite parts of this book. I loved the setting of the riverboat! So interesting how the author used an actual boat for the setting and so you get that peek into the lives of people who lived the riverboat life. If you want to feel transported grab this one, it's a gem. Thanks to Netgally I received a complementary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are honest and my own.

I had seen this author's books floating around on Instagram and jumped at the chance to grab one on Netgally. Yes, I started with the last book in the series. It in no way lessened my enjoyment of this beautiful story. I love stories of people who get second chances. I love the opposites attract trope. And I love a strong redemption arc. This book had all of that. The author crafters characters that have their own flaws and struggles. I loved the hero. Though wounded and scarred from his past mistakes, he was lovable and I couldn't help but root for him. I loved his protective nature as well. Always here for the protective hero. The heroine is the opposite of him in many ways, and yet she was so relatable to a fellow rule abider like myself. I loved the way each character had to work through their struggles.
