Mercy's Fight

Um, why is it that I have never heard of this book before????!!!!!
I LOVED IT!
It so much going for it!
The characters go through so much and I loved them both Grace from her sheltered life wants to strike out on her own and make a difference.  Matt has come out of a scared past and is fighting against the hold of his old self. I ached for him and cheered for him at the same time. 
These characters felt real and genuine.  I loved that they were both driven to help kids.
It has great chemistry between the two main characters,  just the right amount of sizzle. 
I really appreciated that though there are heated scenes there is a clear declaration of boundries that they commit to not crossing. I like seeing these lines drawn in a relationship like this. 
I loved the element of danger that came into the story,  and the message about honesty and confronting the past.
Matt and Grace just fit, even though they came from opposite worlds. I loved Matt's protectiveness of Grace. I loved how determined Grace was, in her fight for Matt to see himself in a new light and her devotion to doing everything she could for the kids.
Go get it!
If you want a contemporary romance with a bit of grittiness to it, I highly recommend this book!

Undercurrent of Secrets

Okay this is officially my favorite Rachel Scott McDaniel book yet! This book is a split time that is so well balanced between the past and the present. I loved the light thread of mystery and the contemporary just was so good. I loved the romance in both time periods. There were some absolutely adorable and swoony scenes in both that just was my favorite parts of this book. I loved the setting of the riverboat! So interesting how the author used an actual boat for the setting and so you get that peek into the lives of people who lived the riverboat life. If you want to feel transported grab this one, it's a gem. Thanks to Netgally I received a complementary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are honest and my own.

I had seen this author's books floating around on Instagram and jumped at the chance to grab one on Netgally. Yes, I started with the last book in the series. It in no way lessened my enjoyment of this beautiful story. I love stories of people who get second chances. I love the opposites attract trope. And I love a strong redemption arc. This book had all of that. The author crafters characters that have their own flaws and struggles. I loved the hero. Though wounded and scarred from his past mistakes, he was lovable and I couldn't help but root for him. I loved his protective nature as well. Always here for the protective hero. The heroine is the opposite of him in many ways, and yet she was so relatable to a fellow rule abider like myself. I loved the way each character had to work through their struggles.
